Waitlists - What to do

If you are on a waitlist and a seat becomes available to you prior to the first day of the semester, you will automatically be registered in the class.

The waitlist procedure changes during the first six days of the semester.

  1. From the first day of classes until waitlists are removed a week later, you must check your online student record each day for a seat offer.
  2. If a seat becomes available for you, it will be “Held” temporarily for 24 hours. You can claim your held seat that day online in your student record or in person at the Registration Centre (B200).
  3. If you do not claim the seat within 24 hours you will be removed from the waitlist and the seat will go to the next on the waitlist.
  4. After six days, waitlists are removed and any course you are on a waitlist for will disappear from our Course Enrolment.  If you have been attending and/or in communication with the instructor it may be possible to be admitted to the course with a Late Course Addition form signed by instructor and given to the Registration Centre. Late Course Addition forms are available at the Registration Centre or Advising after the last day of active waitlists.

Remember to drop waitlisted courses if you are no longer interested in them or you may find that you end up enrolled before classes start and are charged tuition for them.

To claim a seat using your Student Record, login and click on "Course Enrolment History" on the left side menu. There will be a "Claim Seat" button. When you click it, you will be taken to the Web Registration page where you must click "Submit Changes" at the bottom of the page.
