Library and VIULearn Orientations

Library

Our VIU library has a full range of electronic services, including licensed databases. It’s also a great place to find some quiet time to study.

The VIU Library has put together a great Getting Started @ VIU Library: Checklist for New Students. There is information about your Photo ID and Library account, as well as contact information, getting to know the librarians, library guides, and a list of upcoming workshops.

You might also want to check out Photo ID and Printing @ VIU Library and Your Library PIN in the Get Set! (Final Steps) module if you haven’t already.

VIULearn Orientations

VIULearn is Vancouver Island University's learning management system. Some teachers use VIULearn to post information about your online courses and online course material (e.g., course outlines or Powerpoint lecture slides, etc). Some teaching faculty even run fully-online courses in VIULearn. This means that some of your course activities or materials may be online in VIULearn. You can check with your teaching faculty members if you aren’t sure if they are using it or not. To help prepare you for your course, VIU is offering a free, self-paced, fully-online student orientation course. The course takes about 1.5 hours to complete.
