Connect to Technology

Every student at VIU can create a VIU student computer account. Your student computer account grants access to most campus IT Services, including campus computers, VIULearn (D2L) online course content, your student record, campus wireless and Eduroam, pay-for-print services, file storage and more.

The Library Commons - Nanaimo Campus

The Library Commons is located on the 3rd floor of Bldg. 305 (Nanaimo Campus) and is open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week (including holidays). The Commons features computer workstations, media stations, and video and audio editing suites. All may be booked online from the Library home page.

Study Spaces

Spaces for individual and group study are available in the Library and Library Commons, including bookable group study rooms and silent study rooms.

Equipment Loans

The Equipment Loan counter is located at the Library Service Desk, on the Library's main floor. Multimedia and digital equipment is available for short-term loan to VIU students. 

We can also help you to learn how to use the equipment.

Equipment Loan Guidelines

For more information on what is required to sign out equipment go the Student Equipment Loan Page. From here you can fill out the online form and book your equipment. It will be ready for pick up at the loans counter at the library.
