Volunteer Tutor Program November 5, 2020 - 4:49pm

About the Volunteer Tutor Program

Free tutoring is offered as a support to any VIU student in any subject, including adult upgrading courses, trades and certificate programs, and university courses. The focus is usually academic, but sometimes students request tutors to help them “stay on track” or “talk things over with.” Tutoring is not the primary form of course delivery. The ultimate goal of tutoring is to help students become independent, efficient learners.

Accessibility Services November 13, 2020 - 10:52am

Accessibility Services provides information, support services and reasonable accommodation to students with documented permanent and temporary disabilities, such as mental health conditions, ADHD, learning disabilities, chronic health issues, hearing and visual impairments, physical disabilities and temporary impairments due to accident, illness or injury.

Advising Centre November 13, 2020 - 11:16am

Educational Advisors can help you achieve a more fulfilling educational experience through an advising relationship. While post-secondary education can be one of life's most rewarding experiences, it can be a confusing adventure for some, and an intimidating process for others.  Connect early and connect often.

Advising is a process in which both the Educational Advisor and student share responsibility.  The overall goal of the Advising Centre is to support students in identifying and successfully working toward their educational and career goals at VIU.

Athletics and Recreation November 13, 2020 - 11:40am

Mariners Athletics and Recreation engages and supports the student experience by fostering meaningful connections, wellness, and personal growth through exceptional sport, recreation, and lifestyle fitness activities. VIU students get a free membership to the Nanaimo Campus facility for use of the gym floor and weight room. During the fall and spring semesters a number of intramural, fitness and outdoor recreation activities are available for those looking to become more involved on campus.
