Information for Students with Documented Disabilities

Ensuring a Good Start

If you have applied to VIU and have a documented disability, we encourage you to register with Accessibility Services early. It is important that you know about the academic accommodations that are available. Your disability information will not be shared with your instructors or fellow students.

Students have found that it is better to access support at the beginning of their transition to higher learning rather than wait until they are struggling. Once students are registered with Accessibility Services, they are free to decide on a term-by-term basis if services are necessary.

We encourage you to meet with an Access Specialist well in advance (6-8 weeks) of starting courses, as some services require considerable lead time.

See below for contact information to connect with Accessibility Services at our campuses.
