Academic Supports

Advising Centre - Academic Advisors can help you achieve a more fulfilling educational experience through an advising relationship.

Learning Matters - Learning Matters covers everything from learning how to learn, to using data. This is your one-stop-shop for resources related to learning, studying and all the other aspects of being an effective student. Use the icons at the bottom of the page to explore Learning Matters.

Career/Life Planning Supports

Career and Education Planning Resources - Career goals and educational plans can be established within the context of your life goals with the assistance of Educational Advisors. The Career specialist in the Academic and Career Preparation building works with students looking for Career Exploration and Work Search, Cover Letter and Resumé Development, Interview Preparation and Labour Market Information.

Centre for Experiential Learning - Formerly known as the Campus Career Centre. The Centre for Experiential Learning provides VIU students with friendly, professional guidance and support for both career planning and job search. They’ll help you with everything from finding a job to planning your future career and linking your studies to the world of work.

Financial Supports

Financial Aid & Awards - The Financial Aid & Award Office is committed to supporting students in their search for financial assistance, both in the form of loans and awards and in helping students to make the best use of these resources. This office works closely with the faculties and the Student Services branch of the Ministry of Advanced Education to foster and support student access to financial assistance.

Psychological/Emotional Factors and Time Commitment Supports

Counselling Services - Professional, safe and confidential counselling service aims to provide accessible, compassionate and professional services to VIU students. We help students improve their personal, social, and academic well-being and offer consultative services to the Vancouver Island community, such as opportunities for faculty and staff to consult with us regarding students of concern.

VIU Health and Wellness Centre - The VIU Health & Wellness Centre provides medical health care to students enrolled at Vancouver Island University. The VIU Health & Wellness Centre is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and supported by a Medical Office Assistant (MOA). The centre aims to provide health care, education and preventive medicine, and involve students in responsible health and wellness.
