Information for Students with Diagnosed Disabilities
Ensuring a Good Start
If you have a diagnosed disability, we encourage you to register with Disability Services early. It is important that you know about the academic accommodations that are available. Your disability information will not be shared with your Instructors or fellow students.
Students have found that it is better to access support at the beginning of their transition to higher learning rather than wait until they are struggling. Once students are registered with Disability Services, they are free to decide on a term-by-term basis if services are necessary.
Students do need to provide documentation of their disability. We encourage you meet with Disability Services well in advance (3-6 months) of starting courses, as some services require considerable lead time. To book an appointment with an Education Counsellor, contact Disability Services:
- E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
- Nanaimo (250) 740-6446
- Cowichan (250) 746-3509
- Powell River (604) 485-2878
