Ask a current student--
We asked our student ambassadors "If you could give your first-year self one piece of advice, what would it be?" Here are a few of their responses.
One piece of advice would be to try anything and everything that interests you. VIU has so many thing to offer, so take a chance and join a club, try intramurals, or apply for a leadership position. University is all about how you make it, and the things you decide to do with your time here. -Alicia M. BA Global Studies
Get to know your professors, if they know you by name then they are much easier to approach. Most teachers like it when students introduce themselves, it shows initiative. don't be afraid to ask questions if you are unclear about an assignment. -Erin G. Tourism MGMT
Just do it, and believe in yourself. Even if it's hard at first, just know each day gets easier. -Toby O. BSc. Earth Science
Get to know your professors; they can make the difference between securing an education that is run-of-the-mill, and having an experience that is extraordinary. -Kathleen K. BA Criminology
To utilize resources available, through personal experience I have found many people are willing to help you and point you in the right direction if you are willing to ask. -Sage H. BA Sociology
